We refurbish.
For the art and for the climate.

In the coming years, the Hamburger Kunsthalle we will be investing equally in the preservation of unique art and in climate protection.

By 2027, Sprinkenhof GmbH and the Kunsthalle will realise the refurbishment of the skylights of the Lichtwark-Gallery and the Gallery of Contemporary Art. This includes energy-efficient refurbishment to prevent heat loss in the winter months and heating of the rooms in the summer months. These measures will enable the Kunsthalle to significantly reduce its heating and cooling consumption in the air conditioning of the exhibition rooms, resulting in lower CO² emissions.

And best of all – the Kunsthalle will remain open to you during the refurbishment, with all collection areas and exhibitions.

Supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) with the program »INK – Investitionen in national bedeutsame Kultureinrichtungen in Deutschland« and Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg.
