A Field of Non-Field is the first chapter of Chen’s long-term project Her and Her Children, and a preliminary perceptual statement on Madhyamaka philosophy. “The film shows a funeral ceremony for a person alive who finds the strength to continue living through this fictional ritual.”

Through his films, photographs, performances and installations, Chen Chieh-jen (*1960 Taoyuan, TW) engages with Taiwan's history of martial law and the effects of globalisation on the lives of marginalised people.
