Advance booking Surrealism exhibition

Surrealism, the most famous artistic movement of the 20th century, emerged in Paris 100 years ago. One of the most important affinities between Surrealism and German Romanticism: the supernatural and irrational, dreams and chance, community and encounters with a changing nature were key sources of inspiration for German Romanticism, which international Surrealism adopted a century later.

Surrealist masterpieces by Max Ernst, Meret Oppenheim, René Magritte, Salvador Dalí, Valentine Hugo, Toyen, André Masson, Paul Klee and others can be seen alongside the great Romantic painters such as Caspar David Friedrich and Philipp Otto Runge.
